In simple language meaning of orchestra is presentation of different types of instrument players coming together on the same platform and performing in same raga & rhythm. The performance may by with or without vocalists. Every performer plays his instrument with accuracy by following certain rules of music. their coordination and collective activity creates a wonderful music.
Marathi is one of the regional language of India which spoken in various ways or with different pronunciation. Due to this Marathi orchestra consists of different types of shades like folk music, classical music, bhakti sangeet, bhav geet, classical music, veerashree geet, filmy music etc. Obviously in Marathi orchestra we find different colours of music.
Though Marathi orchestra is a part of Indian music industry it shows the culture, traditions of Maharashtra region. Accordingly in Marathi orchestra we find the use of many traditional instruments like flute, Pakhwaj, Halgi, sambal, dimdi, ghungaroo, daf, dholki, harmonium, khanjiri, madal, violin, bulbul etc.
Being a part of Indian Music we find effect of other Indian instruments also in Marathi orchestra. But even after that Marathi orchestra & Marathi Music has its own independent Identity in orchestra industry.
