Navaratri Utsav of Goddess Durga (Aadishakti) celebrated all over India with different names and different ways. Garba dance in Navaratri Utsav is a tradition of state Gujarat in India. In this festival devotees perform Garba or dandiya raas dance in circle with dressed up in colourful clothes. Small decorated wooden stick called dandiya is used in the dandiya raas. This culture, tradition of Gujarat State and the devotion of the people performing it is remarkable. This festival is of Nine days and Nights.
In Orchestra for dandiya basically traditional instruments are used like shehenai, Kachhi dhol & base dhol with the other supplementary instruments like synthesizer, guitar, roto, timbali, drum set, percussion, flute, etc. now a days. Normally it’s a combination of various traditional devotional songs (praising Goddess Durga) and devotees perform their cultural dance with full of excitement on the beats of these songs. To be part of Dandiya Raas as a dancer or even just to watch this live dance is an unforgettable experience.
